Abstract

This paper reports a detailed investigation carried out to determine whether the potassium status of a citrus tree can be determined by leaf analysis. The study has shown that the leaf, of the various plant parts tested, best reflects the varying potassium condition of the nutrient medium. A set of standards based on controlled culture and field experiments has been worked out for three- to sevenmonth- old spring-cycle leaves, and is thought to reliably indicate the current potassium status of the tree. Detailed directions for sampling, analysis, and interpretation are given.
